On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, the large Christ Roi parish hall of Mangobo in Kisangani welcomed students from 3th, 4th, 5th and 6th classes of the humanities of St Ignatius College for a video-forum organized by the Director of the Ma\u00efsha Center as part of the Ignatian Jubilee Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video recounted the life of St Ignatius of Loyola as is in the Pilgrim’s Story. It was surprising to realize that many students attending this college did not know the Patron Saint of their school, let alone the Jesuit Fathers.\u00a0One could read on their smiling faces their wonder when the speaker revealed to them that the fathers of the parish of Christ-Roi are Jesuits and ‘sons’ of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeeing all new things in Christ\u201d is the theme of this Ignatian Year, explained the Director. The representative of the students of the college expressed a wish that the students can take Christ as the only reference for their life. Inspired by Ignatius’s experience of God, he invited them to let themselves be transformed by God instead of letting themselves be lulled by the world which is constantly changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La deuxi\u00e8me activit\u00e9 du jour concernait la protection de notre \u00ab maison commune \u00bb. Une conf\u00e9rence sur \u00ab les changements climatiques et la protection de l\u2019environnement \u00bb anim\u00e9e tour \u00e0 tour par le Directeur du Centre Maisha et Monsieur Felly Bombata, enseignant du coll\u00e8ge, a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019occasion d\u2019attirer l\u2019attention des \u00e9l\u00e8ves sur le bien-fond\u00e9 de la protection de notre environnement. Les probl\u00e8mes climatiques sont li\u00e9s aux actions et aux comportements de l\u2019homme vis-\u00e0-vis de la nature. C\u2019est l\u2019homme qui est au centre de plusieurs activit\u00e9s qui favorisent les changements climatiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating awareness about the protection of the environment, community participation, discouraging gas emission activities, and encouraging reforestation all help to fight climate change. This is how the Maisha Center contributes to the invitation of the Holy Father regarding the \u201cLaudato Si Platform for Action\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not only the students of Saint Ignatius college who have benefited from Maisha’s activities -In Saint Gabriel, the young people of the KA group (Kizito-Anuarit\u00e9) gave a good example to others by collecting the rubbish abandoned all around their parish. It is an example for others to follow as it is something they do regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our beneficiaries also benefited were trained on the manufacture of pineapple juice, ginger juice, cocoa wine, and pineapple wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, for the first time in its history, Father Provincial has sent a candidate for internship at the Maisha Center. It is about Premices MUMBERE who completed his secondary studies in agro-industrial technique<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le but de cette formation est d\u2019aider ces personnes \u00e0 devenir autonomes financi\u00e8rement en exer\u00e7ant des petites activit\u00e9s qui peuvent leur rapporter des petits revenus pour lutter contre la d\u00e9pendance accrue, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 leur situation d\u2019indigence et de grande pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 amplifi\u00e9e par la pr\u00e9sence la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A la fin de la formation, les b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires ont re\u00e7u chacun un paquet de vivres pour la f\u00eate du nouvel an 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
