Felicienne Zongo, ABE, Burkina Faso

The challenges are inherent in the expression of Felicienne’s hopes for her country for 2017:

  • That all people who test positive for HIV may be put on antiretroviral treatment (ART) immediately, as per WHO directives;
  • That the HIV test will be available in all pharmacies, at a price accessible to all, like tests for malaria or pregnancy
  • That more psychosocial care is given to infected children when they reach adolescence, so that they may be supported to overcome any bitterness they may feel, and adhere properly to their ART
  • That more sexual education programs will be offered for youth, both those who are in school and those who are not, with the aim of preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted infections as well as unwanted pregnancies.
