Saint Joseph Development Programmes Kangemi Holds Thanksgiving Celebration on the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola

On 31st July 2025, Saint Joseph Development Programmes (SJDP) Kangemi came alive with joy, gratitude, and community spirit as it hosted a vibrant Saint Joseph Thanksgiving Celebration on the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The event drew together students, staff, alumni, partners, and friends of SJDP in a day marked by faith, unity, and celebration of shared values.

The day began with a solemn Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. James Mugwe, SJDP Programmes Director, who reflected on the virtues of Saint Joseph and Saint Ignatius of Loyola. In his homily, he highlighted their humility, service, and unwavering faith, calling the SJDP community to embody these same values in their daily lives. The liturgy was enriched by lively praise and worship, with liturgical dancers adding a colorful and meaningful dimension to the celebration.

In a special way, the celebration also echoed the vision of Saint Ignatius, whose spirituality emphasizes discernment, service, and finding God in all things, resonating deeply with the school motto “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” (For the Greater Glory of God). For the young people at SJDP, his legacy is a powerful reminder that they are called to be leaders who use their talents to transform society. By nurturing creativity, discipline, and faith, SJDP empowers the youth to walk in the footsteps of Ignatius—pursuing excellence while remaining grounded in values that build a just and compassionate world.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the campus came alive with cultural presentations, talent showcases, and modeling displays. Students enthusiastically expressed their creativity and pride in their heritage, demonstrating the richness and diversity of the SJDP community.

A special moment of the day was the recognition of outstanding members of the SJDP family. Awards were presented to the Most Outstanding Student and the Most Outstanding Teacher. The Longest Serving Staff Member received a special award from Fr. Mugwe in appreciation of their years of dedication and unwavering commitment to the institution’s mission.

The Thanksgiving Celebration was not only a time to reflect on blessings received but also a reaffirmation of SJDP’s enduring values of service, excellence, and community. It served as a reminder that gratitude strengthens bonds and inspires continued dedication to nurturing the potential of every young person entrusted to SJDP.
