To mark the International Women’s Day, that is celebrated annually on March 8, Service Yezu Mwiza (SYM) organized a special event on 13th March 2026. Marked by recognition, sharing, and solidarity, the day provided an opportunity to highlight the essential role of women in society while offering concrete support to the most vulnerable.

In a context where many women face significant socio-economic challenges, the women of Service Yezu Mwiza sought to take a meaningful action for some of the organization’s most disadvantaged beneficiaries. Support kits containing basic food items, including beans, rice, sugar, maize flour, porridge, and soap, were distributed. Beyond their material value, these kits symbolize accompaniment with dignity and compassion.

The celebration also provided a space for interaction and exchange, allowing women and guests to share experiences, daily challenges, and hopes. Through these exchanges, SYM women reaffirmed their commitment to promote women’s rights and strengthen their autonomy toward a better life.
Indeed, women occupy a central place in the communities supported by Service Yezu Mwiza. Whether as mothers, heads of households, or agents of change, they are at the heart of social and economic dynamics. This is why SYM, through various initiatives such as the Income-Generating Activities (AGR) project, works to enhance their potential and respond to their specific needs. This initiative aligns with SYM’s mission to support vulnerable individuals, especially women, through concrete and sustainable actions.

The women of Service Yezu Mwiza expressed their sincere gratitude to Fr. Pascal BIHORUBUSA, SJ., SYM Director and the Jesuit Fathers of the Rwanda-Burundi Province for their constant support and unwavering commitment to women. Their guidance helps implement actions that bring hope and dignity to both staff and beneficiaries.
Together, let us continue to promote women’s rights and build a more just, inclusive, and supportive society.
