On 14 January 2026, Service Yezu Mwiza (SYM) had the honour of welcoming Father Fabien GASIGWA, SJ, Provincial of the Rwanda–Burundi Jesuit Province, during a pastoral and institutional visit to its various services.

This visit was part of a spirit of closeness, accompaniment, and discernment. It enabled the Provincial to closely observe the actions carried out by SYM in support of vulnerable persons, particularly in the areas of comprehensive care for people living with HIV and AIDS, psychosocial support, care for people dependent on injectable drugs, social reintegration, and spiritual support.
During the visit, the Provincial toured the different SYM services, engaging in discussions with the team and the heads of programmes and services. These moments of dialogue were marked by attentive listening, the sharing of experiences, and encouragement to continue the mission with commitment, compassion, and professionalism.

The Provincial commended the work accomplished by SYM, highlighting the tangible impact of its activities on the lives of beneficiaries and the importance of continuing to work for human dignity, inner healing, and hope. Through these efforts, SYM exemplifies AJAN’s mission in Burundi by promoting the holistic development of vulnerable populations, supporting social reintegration, and fostering resilience, dignity, and hope within communities.
