On Monday, January 12, 2026, Radio Kwizera launched its 2026 programming season in a new look studio thanks to local fundraising via community events. The opening session was graced by the bishop of Rulenge, Ngara Catholic diocese Severine Niwemugizi and the Ngara district council Culture and Information Officer Mr. Said Salum.

The bishop led the entire team in blessing the refurbished studio before featuring on the morning program Asubuhi Njema alongside his counterpart, Mr. Said. The two averred the impact and role of Radio Kwizera in the lake zone community and promised to integrate the radio in their 2026 apostolic and administrative plans. They later cut the cake to usher in the 2026 season that will be guided by the slogan AMINIA. This year’s slogan gives hope to our listeners and it’s a clarion call to believe and hope in all the infotainment that will be relayed by their favourite radio station in the lake zone..

In other news, from Monday, January 19 – 28, 2026, RK journalists and staff are participating in a training conducted by Radio Deutsche Welle. Journalists are being trained on Refugee rights, Journalists’ safety, and proposal writing for financial sustainability. After the training, the journalists will be expected to produce one or two radio documentaries for practical purposes. We once again place the entire year in God’s hands, may He, again, guide all our activities for this new year.
