My Experience of the AHAPPY ToT at Kasungu St Joseph Parish, Malawi

By, Richard Sinoya from Kasungu St Joseph Parish, AHAPPY ToT Participant, Malawi.

I had the privilege of attending a training on AHAPPY generation organized by African Jesuit Aids Network (AJAN) from 14th  to 18th  September, 2026.

Before the Training, I was struggling a lot because I did not fully understand myself, my values, and the consequences of the choices I make as a young person. I had limited knowledge about what true leadership means

During the training, I learned a lot that opened my eyes:

  1. Personal Transformation & self-awareness. I learned to understand who I am, my strengths, weaknesses, and how my mindset affects my future. I learned that change starts with me
  2. Leadership values & transformation. I was trained that leadership isn’t just about position, but about values, serving others and being an agent of positive change in my community

This training has changed me a lot. Now I am more aware that if an egg is applied a force from outside, life ends, but if the force is from inside, life begins. I make more responsible health choices, I can communicate with confidence, and I see myself as a leader with values.

I want to sincerely thank the organizer (AJAN), the facilitators and fellow participants for this life-changing opportunity. I commit to applying what I learned in my daily life and to sharing this knowledge with other youth in my community.

Thank you.
