Holistic and Integral Formation for the Young people in Kisangani

In order to build a future full of hope and optimism for the integral development of young people, on May 17, 2023 Centre Maïsha through the collaboration with the African Jesuits AIDS Network (AJAN) took the initiative  to actively contribute to the Holistic and Integral formation of young people in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of The Congo. Centre Maïsha organized a conference-debate with the young people of Christ-Roi parish under the theme: “The friendship between friends and in the Church” led by Professor NGOY MWEMPU of the University of Kisangani.

The dissection of this theme allowed young people to know the importance of friendship, and how to preserve it. This activity took place in the great parish hall of Christ-Roi. The main supervisor of this group thanked the Director of the Centre Maïsha – Father Jean-Claude BINDANDA, Sj – for the promptness with which he responded positively to their request for collaboration, which made possible the realization in good and due form of this activity.

The above undertaking is a continuation of ongoing Youth for Youth Initiative (Y4Y) projects that took place on April 21, 2023, where Centre Maïsha hosted two conferences on entrepreneurship in two Catholic parishes in Kisangani. These are Christ-Roi parish and Saint Paul/Kibibi parish. In Christ-Roi parish, this conference was organized for all young people. As for the parish of Saint Paul / Kibibi, it was with the scouts of this parish.

Through the above activities, young people get to gain knowledge and basic life skills of reading and writing. The activities are targeted at awakening the taste for reading among the young people who are mostly involved in drugs and therefore we not only seek to make reading a school requirement but a hobby.

Centre Maïsha believes in empowering and providing a solid foundation for the young people through enabling them acquires literacy skills so as to help them achieve their dreams and lofty aspirations, find new pathways to develop themselves into useful members of the society so as to transform their lives.
