Radio Kwizera Launches Its 2025 Program as it gears towards boosting Listenership

Radio Kwizera kicked off the year with a highly anticipated launch of its 2025 programming, following a week-long teaser campaign. The unveiling on Monday, January 13, 2025 featured live outside broadcasts of three flagship shows: Asubuhi Njema (morning show from the RK compound), Mchakato (midmorning show from Nakatunga grounds), and Double Mix (afternoon entertainment show from Ngara bus station). These live sessions drew large audiences, creating an interactive and engaging atmosphere. The station’s evening news and studio segments were also part of the celebrations, with the studio specially decorated for the occasion.

Ahead of the launch, the station conducted a thorough review of its broadcasting schedule to better align with the evolving needs of its listeners. The updated lineup focuses on informing, inspiring, and empowering the community, reflected in this year’s slogan: “Amua Ki-smart” (Decide Smartly). Just days after its implementation, the revamped programming has received widespread praise, with listeners applauding the station for making content more relevant to their socioeconomic realities.

As part of its refreshed programming, African Jesuit AIDS Network (AJAN) has partnered with Radio Kwizera to scale up the AJAN HIV & AIDS Prevention Program for Youth (AHAPPY) to reach more young people in Africa. This collaboration aims to raise awareness and educate young people  aged 10 to 24 and adults who interact with young people on HIV and AIDS, equipping them with essential knowledge and values to make informed life choices. Through this partnership, Radio Kwizera is set to amplify its role in social transformation by integrating AHAPPY into its content.

In the year 2022, the month of November AJAN in collaboration with Radio Kwizera oversaw a successful AHAPPY TOT in Kwizera, Ngara district of Kagera province. A total of 45 participants who comprised of, Radio Kwizera staff and youth leaders from various deaneries from the diocese of Rulenge/Ngara were able to benefit from the training.

With AJAN’s support and a renewed commitment to community engagement, Radio Kwizera is set to make a lasting impact in 2025. By combining engaging media with essential educational initiatives, the station continues to serve as a trusted platform for information, awareness, and positive change.
