Radio Kwizera Reaches Over Half a Million Listeners with World AIDS Day 2025 Awareness Message

As part of its World AIDS Day 2025 programming, Radio Kwizera hosted a morning discussion with Dr. Jafari Nawabu, the District Medical Officer for Kasulu District in the Kigoma region, Tanzania. The conversation focused on the crucial role of self-awareness and personal responsibility in preventing HIV and AIDS—key pillars in strengthening community health and reducing new infections.

Dr. Nawabu emphasized that prevention begins with individuals understanding their own risks, making informed choices, and taking proactive steps such as regular testing, consistent use of protection, and seeking timely treatment when needed. He reminded listeners that collective progress in the HIV response depends on each person’s commitment to protecting themselves and others.

The program achieved remarkable reach. According to Radio Kwizera’s studio SMS system, an estimated 526,680 people tuned in to the discussion. This significant audience underscores the vital role of media in raising awareness, dispelling misconceptions, and empowering communities with knowledge that saves lives.
