Centre Monseigneur Munzihirwa (CMM)-DRC: A Beacon of Hope and Progress

On July 2nd, a farewell mass was held for children who were being reunited with their families. The event was attended by children from the open environment program. On July 16th, the vocational training centre at Centre Monseigneur Munzihirwa (CMM) welcomed Fr. Emmanuel Lenge SJ., the provincial treasurer, to bless the centre’s new water purification plant which will be used to produce 5-liter cans of purified water.

A tour of the processing treatment plant took place before the actual blessing ceremony by Fr. Emmanuel Lenge SJ.. In his remarks, he praised the efforts made in the construction of this plant as well as the involvement of the entire team of educators. He encouraged the staffs and beneficiaries of the project to manage the processing plant responsibly, as it would be a significant source of income for the centre.

On July 24th, Fr. Rigobert Kyungu SJ., Provincial for Central Africa Province (ACE) visited Centre Monseigneur Munzihirwa, during his canonical visit to Saint Peter Favre community he toured the Matonge site and addressed the employees, encouraging them to embrace the values of peace, reconciliation, and justice embodied by the martyred bishop and patron of the centre.

In his address Fr. Rigobert Kyungu SJ., Provincial for Central Africa Province (ACE) said, “Although conflicts are inherent in the life of every human organization, it is important for us to seek peace in order to work well in a healthy and quiet environment. As Christians, forgiveness is an important element because our God is mercy and does not count our sins.” The second phase of his visit took him to the Cogelos site, home to the vocational training centre where he toured the various workshops, including carpentry, motorcycle mechanics, fitting and welding, and cutting and sewing. A notable highlight of the visit was the drinking water processing plant.

Upon the conclusion of Fr. Provincial’s visit, he praised the involvement of the entire team in the realization of this project. We express our gratitude to Fr. Rigobert Kyungu SJ., Provincial for Central Africa Province (ACE) for taking the time to visit us, despite your busy schedule. We express our sincere gratitude especially for your words of encouragement and comfort so that we may be true collaborators in Christ’s mission. The whole team of educators felt edified.
