AJAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2024; THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE JESUIT YOUTH SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACTION (JYSEA) PROGRAM.

JYSEA is an added value of the AHAPPY program (value-based program recognized by UN AIDS to reduce HIV in children and adolescents) offering economic empowerment to the youth which brings a whole new approach in support of the youth and goes beyond simply intellectual and business skills.

AJAN works to support and empower the most vulnerable people, vulnerable young girls and women and those at the periphery through an educational skills approach, to regain dignity, achieve financial autonomy and responsibility. “Together we are stronger!”

AJAN HIV AND AIDS PREVENTION PROGRAMME

AJAN main programme is designed to empower the youth with knowledge about HIV and AIDS in Africa. It is aimed at reducing vulnerability and contraction of HIV by the youth. Through it, AJAN works to promote their growth holistically for the achievement of their fullest potential.

AJAN HIV AND AIDS PREVENTION PROGRAMME

Since 2019, AJAN has partnered with the Jesuit Urumuri Centre (JUC) to support young people in Rwanda. Together, they have conducted awareness-raising initiatives on HIV and AIDS, teenage-pregnancy, and drug abuse. This effort is carried out through the AHAPPY Generation Program youth Clubs, which has been implemented in 13 schools.

AJAN WORKS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE TO ENSURE THEY REMAIN HIV-FREE. IT ALSO ENSURES THAT, THOSE INFECTED LIVE FULFILLED LIVES.

Therefore, AJAN works to prevent HIV, reduce infections, increase knowledge about HIV, bridge accessibility to treatment, fights against stigma at individual and community levels

Since its inception in 2012, the AHAPPY Program has expanded to over 11 countries, empowering adolescents and youth to lead a generation free of HIV and AIDS in Africa. Recognized as one of the 41 promising practices, the program is featured on pages 154 and 155 of the UNAIDS Compendium Promising Practices 2023.

In this spirit of the Jubilee Year, we invite young people to reflect on and express their journey as Pilgrims of Hope through storytelling in the form of written pieces (Poems/short narratives or essays).

In this years Creative Writing Contest. Young people as Pilgrims of Hope are being challenged—to recognize signs of hope in the world and become agents of peace and justice.
