Sensitization forum to youths undertaking vocational skills courses at St Joseph Technical School on life skills

St. Joseph the Worker, located in Kangemi in Kenya organized a youth sensitization forum on entrepreneurship and soft skills training, that was attended by forty-nine students of St. Joseph Technical School. The training which took place on 19th October 2022, was facilitated by Mrs. Leah Wariga from the National Youth Service (NYS). The aim of the training was to create awareness to the students on the importance of such skills to enhance their performance and skills that employers are looking for in the industry.

The students were sensitized on the following areas illustrated as part of the forum.

  1. Elements of soft skills and dimensions of soft skills.
  2. Work ethics, importance of workplace ethics, components of workplace ethics and the benefits of workplace ethics.
  3. Adaptability and the importance of adapting to working environment.
  4. Productivity and productivity strategies.
  5. Quality of products and service and how quality of service is importance to their employability.
  6. Personal responsibility at workplace and the importance of having a production report.
  7. Teamwork.
  8. Personal Health-mental health encompassing stress and stress management at workplace.
  9. Communication skills, types and barriers of communication skills

The participants were grateful and conveyed their utmost appreciation to African Jesuit AIDS Network (AJAN) through their Youth-to-Youth Advocacy Initiative for their generous support towards this activity.
