2018 World AIDS Day in Lome, Togo

563 young adolescents and youth got to know their HIV status and screening for Hepatitis on December 1, 2018 on World AIDS Day in Lome, Togo. The three-day campaign organized by the Centre Hope Loyola, in collaboration with AV-youth and the National Council to combat AIDS (CNLS-Togo) targeted young adolescents and youth in high schools and colleges in Lome. The youth were also sensitized on HIV and AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections. Other topics covered included early pregnancies and the negative consequences of abortion. The youths were also encouraged to practice abstinence from sex and also adopt responsible behaviors especially during the end of year holiday season. Messages to convince youth who are cohabiting were also sent out to encourage their spouses to get tested at their nearest screening centres.
