KANGEMI, Kenya. From 31st January to 11th February, the Global Education Immersion Programme (GEIP 2026) brought together students from Belvedere College SJ, Dublin, Republic of Ireland and St. Joseph Technical Senior School (SJDPK), Kangemi, Kenya for two transformative weeks of learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange.

St. Joseph Development Programmes (SJDP) Kangemi, was privileged to host this enriching immersion experience, which reflects the institution’s commitment to holistic education, technical excellence, and global solidarity. The programme opened with an orientation to apostolic and development work, including visits to the AOR Jesuit Development Office and key initiatives: Upendo OVC, the Uzima Programme, St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre, and St. Joseph Technical Senior School. These engagements offered guests a deeper understanding of how faith-inspired education and social outreach are transforming lives in Kangemi.

Throughout the two weeks, students engaged in intensive, hands-on training in Electrical Installation, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Tailoring, Fashion and Design, Photography, Carpentry, Woodwork, and Briquette Making. Working side by side, both visiting and local students shared skills, learned from one another, and strengthened their technical competencies while building friendships rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.

The immersion also provided opportunities to experience the spiritual and communal life that sustains our mission. Visits to St. Joseph the Worker Parish and Christ the King Church (CTK) allowed participants to encounter the vibrant faith community that anchors our programmes.
Beyond the workshops and parish engagements, students explored Kenya’s rich cultural and environmental heritage through visits to Nairobi National Park, Nairobi National Museum, and Ngong Hills. These experiences broadened perspectives, deepened environmental awareness, and reinforced the importance of integral human development.

The programme concluded with a reflective session at Mazzanti House, where students celebrated their growth in skills, faith, friendship, and global solidarity.
For St. Joseph Development Programmes Kangemi, GEIP 2026 was more than an exchange—it was a living expression of our Jesuit mission: forming young people who are competent, compassionate, and committed to building a more just and connected world. Two weeks. Two communities. One shared mission of learning and transformation.
