Celebration of International Women’s Day at Arrupe Jesuit University, Zimbabwe

The Jesuit Youth Office of Southern Africa Province celebrated the International women’s day at Arrupe Jesuit University in Harare where Mrs. Miniyothabo F Baloyi-Chiwenga delivered a powerful keynote address at an event that brought up participants from various universities and colleges under the theme “Together, lets #AccelateAction for gender equality”. The celebrations started off with the Eucharist celebration as a sign of gratitude to the Lord for the gift of women in the world.


Dr. Evaresto Ekweme, the vice chancellor of Arrupe Jesuit University welcomed our esteemed guests and all the participants; where he shared an inspirational welcome speech to start the day by encouraging the ladies who were present to be women of love and prayer. The live sessions of the program were facilitated by Ms. Rosewita Katsande from Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT) focusing on understanding gender equality. The executive director of Female Student Network Trust (FSNT), Ms. Evernice Munando led a discussion emphasizing the significance and value of women highlighting how men can actively support women in their personal growth and empowerment. These discussions drew large audience, creating an interactive and engaging atmosphere.


We were honored to get a keynote address from our guest of honor Mrs. Miniyothabo Baloyi -Chiwenga. In her address, Mrs. Chiwenga highlighted the significance of international women’s day, which is celebrated annually on March 8th, and recognized the progress made towards gender equality. She also emphasized the need for women to strive for greatness and serve as role models to others. Her powerful speech encouraged women to work diligently, leverage their curriculum vitae and seize opportunities to unlock their potential

The international women’s day celebration sparked a wave of inspiration among a vibrant generation of young people, motivating them to drive positive change and make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond. Together, let us remember that every step towards equality, every voice lifted in unity, brings us closer to a future where all women are empowered to lead and succeed.
