Rita ALABA, Communication Officer

In response to the Second Universal Apostolic Preference of the Society of Jesu“Walking with the Excluded: Walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice”, the Loyola Social Centers of Lomé – Togo donated school supplies to 200 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in the account of the academic year 2021 – 2022.

The prizes dished out this year comprise; notebooks, books, geometric sets, slates, pens, pencils and erasers, backpacks, and others. The kits distributed to each of these OVCs provide support to parents who often have difficulty meeting the educational needs of their children: primary, middle, and high school.

These children in turn are grateful and salute the generosity of their benefactors to whom they have promised a high rate of success at the end of the school year.

“ I thank the KOLPING Family who thought of us through the Loyola Social Centers. Thanks to her, today we have our school supplies and we promise to succeed at the end of the year . », Rejoiced a student.

To allow these children to attend in good conditions, awareness-raising on compliance with the barrier measures of Covid-19, sexual abuse of minors, violence in schools, teenage pregnancies, drugs, and alcohol was done.

In order to respect the decisions of the government regarding the non-gathering of a large number of people, the realization of this activity was held in small groups over two days -September 10th and 23rd of 2021.
