“A communication from PEPFAR (the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) for World AIDS Day 2016, on PEPFAR Latest Global Results, included a statement: The epidemic is becoming controlled in several key African countries. This gave me great hope.

“The greatest challenge is stigma. Throughout the world, there is need for correct information to be communicated that HIV is simply a medical condition like diabetes or high blood pressure, and that it can be contained through HAART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy). Equally it has to be communicated that stigmatizing people living with HIV is not only gross injustice but also a violation of a person’s human right to equality and freedom from discrimination.” (The Constitution of Kenya, Article 27)
